Acne

Acne is a common skin concern that impacts on the lives of those who suffer with it regardless of their age. Acne is formed when sebum (the oil produced by the skin) gets trapped within the pores allowing bacteria to develop. If it isn’t addressed quickly, acne can result in both physical and emotional scarring that literally leave marks that last a lifetime. PDT (Photodynamic Therapy) is a breakthrough treatment which is medically proven to reduce acne while simultaneously rejuvenating the skin.

After the skin has been cleaned and exfoliated, Photodynamic Therapy involves the application of a cream containing Aminolevulinic Acid (ALA) that is activated by a light source. Aminolevulinic Acid (ALA) is a “natural” acid that is already found within the body. PDT for the treatment of acne leads to the destruction of both the sebaceous glands (the glands that produced oil) and propionibacterium acnes (the bacteria that triggers acne). Not only will acne improve significantly but Photodynamic Therapy will result in a reduction of pigmentation, less visible pores and an overall improved tone and texture of the skin.
